PRIVACY INFORMATION NOTICE
The holder of this website (hereinafter HOLDER) created and published the EQmonitor application (hereinafter also referred to as APP and APPLICATION).
This document (hereinafter also PRIVACY POLICY) explains why the HOLDER asks who uses the APP (hereinafter also USER) to authorize the HOLDER and his partners to collect and process some personal data of the USER.
The USER is invited to carefully read this PRIVACY POLICY.
PERSONAL DATA USED BY THE APP
EQmonitor is free to donwload and use. In order to support the HOLDER and keep the APP free, the APPLICATION shows advertisements provided by the provider Google AdMob (hereinafter also PROVIDER). The PROVIDER may show to the USER personalized ads based on the interests of the USER. To request the USER’s consent to personalize advertisements, at the first opening of the APPLICATION the USER is asked to choose whether the USER agrees to receive personalized advertisements, that is based on the interests of the USER, or if the USER prefers to receive non-personalized advertisements (hereinafter this choice is also referred to CHOICE). Personalized ads are advertisements that the Google AdMob provider believes are in line with the USER’s interests. At any time the USER can check the CHOICE made previously and/or change it by tapping on the padlock icon at the bottom of the APP.
To personalize the advertisements, the PROVIDER needs to collect and process some personal data of the USER. The PROVIDER may also share these data with third parties. The reasons why these data are collected and shared are: APP analytics, fraud prevention, security reasons, advertising and marketing, other reasons.
Data collected and shared automatically by the PROVIDER with third parties are, for instance:
- IP address – used to estimate the general location of the device
- interactions with the APP – APP launch, taps and other interactions such as video views
- APP performance information – including crash logs, diagnostic data, battery usage, other information
- APP and device identifiers
- other identifiers

When the APPLICATION starts, the APP asks the USER to access the geographical position of his device (hereinafter also LOCATION). If the USER agrees, this data will be used by the APP to provide the USER with additional information on the earthquakes and, more precisely, the distances between the geographical position of the device of the USER and the locations where the seismic events occurred. The advertising partner of the HOLDER may use the LOCATION data for other purposes, record that data and also share it with third parties to personalize the advertising experience of the USER.
The seismic data presented in the APP come from the following sources:
- EMSC/CSEM – European Mediterranean Seismological Centre
- INGV – Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia
- Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License
- USGS – U.S. Geological Survey
The APP connects to the web services of EMSC, INGV e USGS (hereinafter also SERVICES) which provide the seismic data presented by the APPLICATION. During the connection to these SERVICES, some personal data of the USER may be recorded (IP, geographical position, etc …) For further information on which personal data are collected by the SERVICES, how they are processed and more, please read the Privacy Policies of the SERVICES that are available at the following links:
USER UNDER THE AGE OF 16
If the USER is a child under 16, when in the APP the USER is asked for consent for the personalization of advertisements, the USER’s parents or legal guardians must respond on behalf of the USER.
CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY
Any changes to this PRIVACY POLICY are effective when posted on this page. The HOLDER reserves the right to update or change the PRIVACY POLICY at any time. The USER should check this page periodically because the continued use of the APP by the USER after the HOLDER makes changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes.
